Though, in darkness void, and not yet formed,
To the Word of God the earth conformed.
Light and life the maker created.
All was good, and still, the devil hated.
He, in charming falsehood cunning lies,
Tempted mankind into compromise.
Then, in sin and shame the children left.
From the garden they were bereft.
We can repent without what would have been.
For, we cannot repay all the price of sin.
Only God, His gift, His love, His Son,
Does to us, His grace impart, a One.
Sacrificial Son, for us, he dies!
For me, dies He; yet, He’ll live, he’ll rise.
If all you know in life is this mystery,
You know the most important –His-story.
